Auckland City and Harbour Bridge |
So Auckland was the home of the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, hosting comedians from all over the world. We wend to a couple shows, but actually of New Zealand comedians only. The first show we saw was Guy Williams. We went because it was donation only and we listen to him on the radio on our daily drive home, so we figured it might be decent. It was a very intimate venue and overall a good show. It's nice to be able to get the kiwi jokes now that we've lived here almost a year; Guy likes to live on the edge and toast his 'sandwich' bread (bread here is sold in two thicknesses- 'sandwich' and 'toast').
The second show we saw was of a bit higher caliber and a much larger audience. It was at the Civic Theatre, which is a beautiful venue. Rhys Darby was the headline act- you may have heard of him before. We knew him from Flight of the Conchords. He had a funky two many band open for him, but his routine didn't disappoint.
Always good to get out and get some laughs!
